My real name is Azlyn; and no, I wasn't named after a lion. I am a rather small reddish-haired, hazel-eyed girl, and I was born and raised in America. But as of June 2009, I will be relocating to the Netherlands to live with *Verticae! I met *Verticae in #digitalmedia about 3 years ago, and we have been inseparable, ever since.

I joined dA in 2004 under the name ~Pepokish. Deviantart was the sole inspiration for me to attempt digital media, and I have been in love with the art form ever since. Prior to Deviantart, I worked entirely with traditional media (I dabbled in watercolor and acrylic paint, as well as charcoal and oil pastels, but of course, I mainly used pencils). Traditional media art is my first love, but since I have no proper way to upload my traditional art onto dA, my gallery will probably consist entirely of digital works.

I realize that I still have a very long way to go to improve my current skills, and that I still have a lot to learn about digital painting and art in general. But if not for Deviantart, I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am, today.

So, it's almost 2009, can you believe it? I still have a hard time remembering that it's not 2007, anymore! Time really flies.

Well, since the year is almost over, I figured it would be a nice idea to see how far I got with this year's resolutions.

1. More art plz.
Technically, I did make an improvement. But between my tablet breaking, being generally very busy with finishing school, and losing my tablet pen (yes, I know... I need to be more organized), I haven't gotten very far with this one. To be honest, I'm not disappointed. I'm slowly giving up on creating art; I can't see it having any kind of positive effect on my future. Right now, the last thing I need is something to depress me further -- I'd like to stick to what I know I can do well, rather than continue to struggle with something that I have no confidence with.

2. Train my fricking dog
Jan can vouch for this one! Andy's almost two years old, can you believe it? And he knows a whole heckuvalot of stuff, now. His favorite tricks are weaving between my legs while I'm walking (yes, I didn't think that one through when I taught it, I know... I realize now how annoying it is!) and playing dead, which is the latest thing I taught him. He also knows a lot of phrases, like "get off the couch". Such a smart dog. :3

3. Get a Job
Well, I've had two jobs since, and I'm looking for another, at the moment. Still far from being able to afford that ticket to the Netherlands, but I'll make it, I'm sure. Hmm, I had something intelligent to say, here. Too bad I can't remember what it was! D:

4. Eat healthier.
Definitely did better with this one! I dropped my vegetarian diet, much to the relief of anyone planning on taking me out to dinner. :B Let me tell you, it's hard not to be picky when there are VERY few restaurants which offer vegetarian options! I know it's annoying to sit there and listen to me say, "I want this, minus this and this and this". Fortunately, that's all in the past. I'm back to being an omnivore. :> Om nom. <3

5. More love for my *Verticae
Hopefully I did much better in this department. Granted, I didn't write this resolution in January; I went back and added it around April. But this has been one of my most important goals, this year -- which is ironic, given that it probably sounds like the most trivial one. But in reality, Jan knows (or should know!) just how important his happiness means to me. I'd give the world just to see him happy, and I really hope he knows that. <3 Looking back over this past year, it's amazing to see how far we've come. We've both matured so much; as individuals, and as a couple. And I finally got to meet him in person... I'll never forget those amazing two weeks.

Here's to the best damn 2.75 years of my life, Jan -- and many more to come.

Anyway, those were my 2008 resolutions. I didn't do too terribly bad; but then, my goals weren't very difficult, were they? Maybe for 2009, I'll really push myself towards some more difficult goals.
